Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

EnglishAfter Chile’s Independence, it was necessary to create a public space that would reflect the development of a new republican life. Therefore, the authorities sought to transform La Canada, a former colonial road, into a renewed public boulevard for the capital city: the Alameda de las Delicias. Starting from its creation in the early 1820s, the new promenade reflected and was part of the cultural changes that affected the wealthiest classes of the capital during the 19th century. This article analyzes the ways in which this transformation generated important changes in the purposes and appropriations of this urban area. It also shows, through visual representations, the ways in which this promenade experimented the transition from a colonial to a republican society.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
