Abstract
L’une des contributions importantes de John R. Commons à l’économie institutionnaliste est de proposer le concept pragmatiste de futurité. Ce concept est, selon cet auteur, indispensable pour comprendre la nécessaire inscription des actions économiques dans la temporalité et pour analyser ces actions selon leur logique de causalité propre : la causalité institutionnelle. Selon cette dernière, la futurité, structurée par l’action collective, est la cause de l’action économique présente. Une application à l’analyse de la transaction de marchandage est présentée.
