Internationalisation des PME : une expansion non-linéaire, entre désinternationalisation et réinternationalisation

Abstract
Cet article analyse les trajectoires d’internationalisation non-linéaires suivies par les PME. L’étude de cas réalisée sur quatre PME manufacturières rhônalpines met en avant l’existence d’une pluralité de trajectoires au rythme et au niveau d’engagement divers. L’internationalisation de ces PME est caractérisée par une succession de phases d’engagement et de désengagement sur les marchés étrangers. Plus spécifiquement, nos travaux révèlent l’existence d’époques d’internationalisation de durée variable initiées par différents incidents critiques d’origine interne et/ou externe. L’apprentissage, la capacité de résilience et l’orientation internationale du dirigeant figurent parmi les principaux éléments façonnant la trajectoire d’expansion des PME.
