Abstract
En 2007, l’illustratrice Pénélope Bagieu lançait sur la toile un blog BD, qu’elle dédiait à la réalité prosaïque de son quotidien. Trois ans plus tard, cette diplômée de l’École nationale supérieure des Arts décoratifs de Paris et du Central St Martins College of Art and Design publiait aux éditions Gallimard son premier roman graphique,Cadavres exquis. Comment ce passage d’une production « sauvage » à l’une des plus prestigieuses maisons d’édition s’est-il effectué? C’est à cette question que l’article tente de répondre. Pour ce faire, il s’articule en quatre parties. En préambule, une brève présentation des notions de blog et blogosphère et de leur aspect intrinsèquement fuyant et sauvage permettra d’appréhender le cas particulier de Pénélope Bagieu – et de son blogMa vie est tout à fait fascinante. Ce dernier est ensuite observé en tant que lieu d’affirmation de soi de son auteure, notamment avec un choix d’implication confondue 1 dans un genre particulier, à savoir lachick lit. Connaissant un succès particulier, le blog va être reformaté en objet-livre et plusieurs publications vont suivre la première (en passant par la maison d’édition Gawsewitch pour arriver jusqu’au catalogue Gallimard). Cette reconfiguration provoque inévitablement un changement sur la plateforme en ligne mais également dans la posture de l’auteure, qui tente tant bien que mal de se détacher du côtégirlyqu’on lui accorde. Néanmoins, Pénélope Bagieu connaît plusieurs ratés en format papier lorsque ses publications ne sont pas assimilées à une production en ligne. Son actualité témoigne d’ailleurs de la nécessité de lier les deux médias : elle publie actuellement, chaque lundi, une planche sur un blog hébergé parLe Mondequi fera l’objet d’une publication chez Gallimard à l’avenir. Est-il donc, aujourd’hui, réellement possible pour une artiste assimilée à la toile de s’émanciper et devenir une auteure BD reconnue?
