Est-ce que devenir québécoise ça va être intégrée ? Je vais jamais le devenir… Qu’est-ce que c’est d’être intégrée ?(Elena) Bien que peu de personnes immigrantes se dirigent vers les régions éloignées du Québec, un certain nombre, dont plus de la moitié sont des femmes, a choisi de s’établir au Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, une région très homogène culturellement et linguistiquement. Concrètement, comment se passe cette intégration pour les femmes immigrantes dans cette région ? L’intégration diffère-t-elle selon que l’on soit un homme ou une femme ? Comment les activités réalisées avec les enfants, la participation sociale et le marché de l’emploi saguenéen peuvent-ils concourir à cette intégration ? Cette recherche qui s’appuie sur des fondements féministes documente les pratiques d’intégration des femmes immigrantes au Saguenay en lien avec la sphère familiale, la participation sociale et l’emploi. Cet angle permet premièrement d’approfondir les interrelations entre ces sphères et d’explorer les conséquences de la division sexuelle du travail sur l’intégration des femmes immigrantes dans le contexte d’une région dite périphérique.
