Abstract
La capacité d’action politique dans les villes de l’époque moderne est souvent conditionnée par la détention d’un régime de citoyenneté. La ville de Marseille ne déroge pas à cette règle, et le statut de citoyen constitue théoriquement la seule voie d’accès à l’exercice politique dans la cité. Pourtant, plusieurs mobilisations d’habitants à propos d’aménagements de l’espace de la ville révèlent la revendication par ces collectifs d’une autre forme d’appartenance locale, et d’autres fondements permettant l’activation des liens civils entre les habitants. L’inscription de l’individu dans un espace social est alors érigée en condition suffisante et légitime d’une expression politique dans la cité, et dessine les contours d’une communauté des habitants libérée des rigidités légales des citoyennetés d’Ancien Régime.
