Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The paper considers the problem of dating of the Lelantine war, one of the most mysterious conflicts of the Archaic period. To solve this problem, researchers typically use the data of archaic Greek poetry, in particular, Hesiod’s Works and Days and Archilochus’ poems. At the same time, there are almost no researchers who recognize the legitimacy of the use of the works of Theognis of Megara for dating the Lelantine war. Theognis of Megara was a poet who for the first time in the ancient tradition mentioned the valley, which had become the cause of the conflict. We revise the data according to which Hesiod and Archilochus can be considered the contemporaries of the Lelantine war. We also argue that Theognis' works can be used for the dating of the conflict in Euboea in a wide temporal framework from the end of the 8th century to the first quarter of the 4th century B.C.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
