Abstract
Il contributo mette a confronto il diritto delle amministrazioni romane, in particolare quello tardoimperiale basato sulle costituzioni degli imperatori, con il diritto costituzionale-amministrativo italiano (ivi incluse le più recenti novità normative) in tema di accesso e avanzamento nei pubblici uffici. Si osserva come nei due diritti considerati si delinea il principio meritocratico e si riflette, alla luce dell’esperienza romana, su come si possa giungere ad una sua concreta, condivisibile attuazione.
