Characterization of a rectangular patch antenna using ACGF-SEM approach

Abstract
In this paper, we introduce a unique representation of patch antennas surface currents using the antenna current Green's function (ACGF) combined with the singularity expansion method (SEM). The spectral response of the antenna is generated by relating the ACGF to SEM. The main objective here is a development of a combination technique of these two methods to study two-dimensional planar structures. This combination is studied analytically with an objective to minimize the computational complexity of the problem. Applications of the technique on a microstrip patch antenna and other structures are presented.
