Millimeter wave six-port QPSK modulators for high data-rate wireless communications

Abstract
In this paper, two direct V-Band and W-Band high data-rate QPSK modulators based on six-port technology are presented and analyzed. In order to evaluate the performances of the proposed modulators under realistic conditions, a six-port model based on the measured S-parameters of fabricated V-Band and W-Band circuits has been implemented in system simulations. The performances in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER) are analyzed for various data-rates of a pseudorandom QPSK signal: 100 Mbps, 500 Mbps and 1 Gbps. The obtained results demonstrate an excellent BER for both considered frequency bands, over 10% bandwidth, which perfectly meets the required specifications for future high-speed wireless communication systems.
