Abstract
Aun partiendo del principio de autonomia del paciente y, por ende, de su derecho a elegir entre las distintas alternativas terapeuticas existentes y a rechazar el tratamiento propuesto, la normativa sanitaria afronta la realidad de situaciones en las que la asistencia medica se presta en ausencia, o incluso en contra, de voluntad valida juridicamente imputable al enfermo. A partir de la doctrina del Tribunal Constitucional en torno a los derechos fundamentales a la vida y a la integridad fisica y moral, el presente articulo tiene por objeto identificar la naturaleza constitucional de los supuestos de asistencia sanitaria no consentida y proporcionar algunas claves para proceder a una interpretacion constitucionalmente adecuada a los denominados casos de «urgencia vital».
