Abstract
Os movimentos da Reforma Psiquiátrica têm conquistado grandes avanços, como a redução de leitos em hospitais psiquiátricos e o retorno à vida na comunidade de pessoas com longo histórico de internações, valorizando a integração comunitária a partir do entendimento ampliado de saúde e da participação de vários segmentos institucionais. Porém, enfrenta-se o desafio de que o tratamento baseado em medicamentos – ou fármacos – ainda é o mais utilizado, colocando em segundo plano outras formas de “cuidar”, baseadas nas relações e nos afetos. A Gestão Autônoma da Medicação (GAM) propõe uma metodologia de ampliação de direitos, baseada na problematização, para ampliação de conhecimento sobre efeitos desejados e indesejados dos psicotrópicos, gerando co-participação entre usuários, familiares e trabalhadores, emancipação e ampliação da cidadania. A proposta inicial foi desenvolvida em Quebec, Canadá e trazida para o Brasil a partir de um projeto de pesquisa financiada pelo CNPq, com a participação de quatro universidades brasileiras (UNICAMP, UFRJ, UFF, UFRGS).
