Abstract
Cet article propose de situer le California Poem d’Eleni Sikelianos (2004) dans le champ des traditions du long poème américain. Il montre que l’œuvre croise deux tendances différentes: d’une part l’héritage moderniste dont se réclame Sikelianos, d’autre part le désir de revenir à ce qu’elle appelle « l’ancien schéma narratif », en particulier celui de l’épopée. Nous montrons également le tournant écologique qui s’opère dans le poème par rapport aux traditions épiques américaines.
