Abstract
A lo largo del planeta se producen una media de 10 erupciones anuales, situadas fundamentalmente en el cinturon de fuego. Situado en las costas del oceano Pacifico, se caracteriza por concentrar algunas de las zonas de subduccion mas importantes del mundo, lo que ocasiona una intensa actividad sismica y volcanica en paises como Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, en Centroamerica (Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador y Guatemala), Mexico, los Estados Unidos, Canada, luego dobla a la altura de las islas Aleutianas y baja por las costas e islas de Rusia, China, Japon, Taiwan, Filipinas, Indonesia, Papua Nueva Guinea, Australia y Nueva Zelanda.
