In deze studie is nagegaan door welke motieven toekomstgerichte glastuinders zich laten leiden bij de bedrijfsontwikkeling en welke kasconcepten en energietechnieken zij in gedachten hebben om hun bedrijf klimaatneutraler te maken. Daarvoor zijn veertien glastuinders met concrete plannen voor nieuwbouw en enkele adviesbureaus genterviewd. Uit de analyse kwamen drie subgroepen met bijhorende motieven, bedrijfskenmerken en ontwikkelingsvisies naar voren. Onder de huidige omstandigheden kiezen de meeste genterviewden voor standaard Venlo-kassen. Om klimaatneutraler te produceren, denken de genterviewden aan het verder uitkoelen van wk-warmte en aardwarmte. De studie wordt besloten met een advies voor het programma Kas als Energiebron over het stimuleren van klimaatneutraler telen en nieuwe kasconcepten.
