Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

This report documents the English for All: Technology in English at The White House on November 29, 2016, championed by the Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy, Richard Stengel. The "English for All" initiative was announced by President Obama in 2016. This event represented a gathering of experts in the field to discuss how educational technology can be used for teaching and learning English as a Second language and advancing foreign policy goals. Dr. Sarah Eaton, Assistant Professor, Werklund School of Education was invited to represent the Unviersity of Calgary at The White House. Eaton was the only Canadian invited to this prestigious event.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
