Abstract
Viewing transportation through the lens of current social, economic, and policy aspects, this four-volume reference work explores the topic of transportation across multiple disciplines within the social sciences and related areas, including geography, public policy, business, and economics. Following an overview of the key regulatory features and tasks, this article discuss the tensions that arise from the distinction between driving time and working time and from the social relationships that characterise this profession highly dominated by men. Finally some perspectives are drawn in view of the drive towards market deregulation.
