One–pot Synthesis of Blue–green Emitting Fluorophores

Abstract
Abstract A series of new “blue to green” chromophores 5‐triazolo[1,5‐α]pyrazinepyrrol‐2‐ones were prepared in high yields and characterised ( 1 H and 13 C NMR, X‐ray crystallography, elemental analysis, MS, photophysics, and DFT/TDDFT computations (B3LYP)), the aggregation (solution → solid state) of these chromophores caused a blue‐shift of ∼29 nm at room temperature, while shifts of up to ∼50 nm were observed at 77 K. The quantum yield could reach ∼20 % at 77 K. The ∼ns lifetimes scale indicated fluorescence. This work revealed a novel approach for creating dyes and extended the application of β‐lactam carbenes to the synthesis of complex heterocycles.
