Abstract
In this paper, a design solution is \npresented which optimizes an existing DVT serial number recognition system installed at CAMTAC in Guelph. \nThe design outlines a method \nto configure the system, which includes a number of hardware and software parameters. \nFurthermore, a background script was developed to \nallow more time for characters to be recognized \nas well as to reduce erroneous character recognition. Preliminary tests show that the design \nimproved serial number recognition by 85 percent.
