Abstract

Entre 2007 et 2014, Rodrigue Jean fut l’initiateur d’une expérience cinématographique reposant sur le travail d’un collectif de création connu sous le nom d’Épopée et incluant des Montréalais vivant l’exclusion dans une extrême précarité. L’article examine comment, du point de vue du spectateur, les films qui en sont issus constituent une ressource imaginaire permettant de parer à la rupture de socialité qui marque l’expérience des villes. La forme de compagnonnage qu’ils proposent fait apparaître les logiques sociales qui conduisent à l’exclusion et mise sur « l’imagination radicale » pour intensifier la sensibilité politique des urbains.
