Abstract
L’auteur évoque la situation de plus en plus fréquente de femmes dans la cinquantaine qui achèvent d’élever leurs enfants et soudain doivent prendre soin de leurs parents âgés dépendants. Une « carrière » de soin s’impose à ces femmes qui limite leurs possibilités d’accéder au marché du travail ou d’y demeurer. Une enquête menée auprès de 500 femmes de la région de Milan met en lumière la charge de travail énorme qui leur échoit et les contraintes psychologiques et physiques auxquelles elles doivent faire face.
