Abstract
Cet article propose un portrait de trois secteurs multiethniques de Montréal et des familles qui y vivent. Après avoir brièvement examiné la constitution et la composition du paysage socio-ethnique de Saint-Louis et Mile End, Côte-des-Neiges et Montréal-Nord, les auteures examinent les pratiques des familles en matière de garde des enfants d’âge scolaire. Elles comparent plus particulièrement les modes de garde utilisés par les mères salariées nées au Canada et par les mères nées à l’étranger. Les conditions de vie précaires des populations néo-québécoises sont enfin mises en relation avec les problèmes d’accessibilité aux services de garde.
