Abstract
L'histoire médiévale allemande s'écrit par larges pans. Elle néglige volontiers le début, escamote les origines compliquées des peuples germaniques, saute allègrement par-dessus les Carolingiens dont émerge à peine la figure emblématique de Charlemagne. Et elle ne s'attarde guère sur les deux derniers siècles du Moyen Age, s'apitoie sur le grand Interrègne, ne s'y retrouve pas dans un Empire plus théorique que réel. En revanche les trois périodes centrales sont toujours et outrageusement gâté...
