Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

During installation of PHC pipe piles, a residual force in the piles is commonly observed due to pile compression, rebound of the soils at the pile base, and soil strength recovery after installation. In practice, pile response can be affected as a result of the residual force, and the pile bearing capacity will be incorrectly evaluated if the residual force is not considered.Analysis of PHC pipe pile response considering the residual force is an interesting research subject, and the influence of residual force developed in a PHC pipe pile on the pile response should be clarified to broaden the application of the field results of PHC pipe pile testing. In their recent paper, Kou et al. (2016) presented a large-scale field testing investigation on the residual forces developed in open-ended PHC pipe piles instrumented with fiber Bragg grating (FBG) strain gauges. However, some technical issues in their paper deserve further discussion, as summarized below.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
