Este artigo trata da apropriação multimidiática do Hamlet de Shakespeare pelo dramaturgo canadense Robert Lepage em uma produção investida de imagens, música, tipografia e cenografia móvel que inovou a linguagem das adaptações de Shakespeare. A princípio, considera-se o teatro como naturalmente intermidiático, pois é capaz de incorporar todas as artes e mídias no palco. O propósito deste texto é apresentar uma análise dos elementos que se constituem como referências intermidiáticas presentes na performance. Ademais, discute ainda as razões pela qual esta peça pode ser considerada como multimidiática, uma vez que envolve processos de transposição intermidiática, combinação de mídias e de referências intermidiáticas, de acordo com a categorização de Irina Rajewsky (2012). O teatro seria, assim, multimidiático, por oferecer um lugar onde as formas artísticas (encenação, dança, música, pintura) se encontram, interagem e se integram com o cinema, a televisão, o vídeo e as novas tecnologias, criando uma profusão de sentidos (CHAPPLE & KATTENBELT, 2006). Por fim, critica-se a tecnologização da peça shakespeariana que, como o Fantasma, produz efeitos de real que distraem o público das questões mais profundas e reflexivas da peça.
