Charged Higgs phenomenology in the lepton-specific two Higgs doublet model

Abstract
We study the ``lepton-specific'' two Higgs doublet model, in which one doublet ${\ensuremath{\Phi}}_{\ensuremath{\ell}}$ gives mass to charged leptons and the other ${\ensuremath{\Phi}}_{q}$ gives mass to both up- and down-type quarks. We examine the existing experimental constraints on the charged Higgs boson mass and the parameter $\mathrm{tan}\ensuremath{\beta}\ensuremath{\equiv}⟨{\ensuremath{\Phi}}_{q}^{0}⟩/⟨{\ensuremath{\Phi}}_{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{0}⟩$. The most stringent constraints come from LEP-II direct searches and lepton flavor universality in $\ensuremath{\tau}$ decays. The former yields ${M}_{{H}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}}\ensuremath{\ge}92.0\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}$; the latter yields two allowed regions $0.61\mathrm{tan}\ensuremath{\beta}\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}\ensuremath{\le}{M}_{{H}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}}\ensuremath{\le}0.73\mathrm{tan}\ensuremath{\beta}\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}$ or ${M}_{{H}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}}\ensuremath{\ge}1.4\mathrm{tan}\ensuremath{\beta}\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}$, and excludes parameter regions beyond the LEP-II bound for $\mathrm{tan}\ensuremath{\beta}\ensuremath{\gtrsim}65$. We present the charged Higgs decay branching fractions and discuss prospects for charged Higgs discovery at the LHC in this model.
