Abstract
Selon le témoignage de Théophraste ( Historia plantarum VI, 8, 1–4), des fleurs pour tresser des couronnes étaient disponibles tout au long de l’année, même l’hiver, une longue saison en Grèce. Plus exactement, deux types de fleurs étaient disponibles à la fin de l’hiver et au début du printemps: λευκόιου et φλόγινον. De plus, deux autres plantes pouvaient être maintenues en fleurs toute l’année: τό μέλαυ ῐου et οὶυάνθη. On portera attention aux problèmes d’identification dans le Greek-English Lexicon et dans la traduction que Hort a donnée de l’ Historia plantarum , avant d’en venir aux compétences des jardiniers et aux occasions de porter des couronnes en hiver.
