In this paper the spectrum of corrugated circular waveguides will be computed from classical matrix eigenvalues. Both cases of single and dual-depth corrugations are shown. The eigenvalue problem is formulated by means of generalized scattering matrix extracted from HFSS or any other 3D field solver where the eigenvalues are directly related to the propagation constants. New techniques to force the EM solver to excite selected modes will be presented. In addition to the advantage of only investigating the modes of interest, these techniques reduce computation time significantly by shrinking the computational domain. Corrugated circular waveguides are simulated using these techniques and results are compared to those computed from CIET. Excellent agreement is achieved. Also the spectrum of dual-depth corrugated circular waveguide is computed using the same techniques.
