Abstract
Digital video communication is becoming popular with the recent advances in the satellite and wireless networks, and the growing popularity of the World Wide Web. The mobile users generally have limited bandwidth, and hence it is crucial to develop efficient scalable video coding scheme for low bandwidth channels. The current video coding standards are primarily based on discrete cosine transform (DCT). However, efficient wavelet-based coding schemes are being investigated in the last few years.
