Abstract
Les milieux urbains sont aux prises avec de nouvelles formes de déviance et de criminalité pour lesquelles les pratiques policières usuelles sont de moins en moins efficaces. Face à ce sentiment de ne plus avoir de prise sur la réalité criminelle, les organisations policières repensent leurs stratégies. La police communautaire, qui se présente comme la solution la plus appropriée pour le maintien de l’ordre, la prévention et la répression du crime, se veut plus compatible avec les intérêts du public et s’efforce donc de faire participer la collectivité à ses stratégies. Collectivité et police sont ainsi cogestionnaires de la criminalité et coproductrices de la sécurité.
