Abstract

The Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, have 53 scientific journals, and at February 2007 began studies to using the Canadian Open Journal System - OJS as an information source to the scientific knowledge dissemination produced by these university. This study reports Portal of Journals UFSC creation (http://www.periodicos.ufsc.br) as a free information source. Presents the 14 editors journals opinion, advantages and problems on using the electronic publishing scientific journal software. Some difficulties reported by the editors, there is a need to know the different functions by the editors process. Using the wiki environment (http://oficinaseer. wikidot.com) exchange experiences and learning space for all publishers and trainees. At the end 2008 eighteen (18) journals concluded the data migration process and begin journal’s indexing at international databases, and the international visibility has already reached over 500 thousand access from more than 90 countries (http://www.periodicos.ufsc.br/awstats/awstats.pl)
