Lorsque les élèves entrent au secondaire, ils doivent non seulement assurer leur réussite académique, mais expérimentent aussi de nombreux changements biologiques, sociaux et psychologiques qui affectent intimement leur expérience scolaire. Les enseignants, dans leurs façons d’interagir et d’enseigner, influencent directement cette expérience et la vie de leurs élèves: ils doivent enseigner la matière, gérer leur classe, atteindre les objectifs du Ministère de l’Éducation, des Loisirs et du Sport (MELS) du Québec, tout en composant avec des élèves en pleine maturation. De plus, comme dans toute profession, une base de savoir pour enseigner est nécessaire: nous pensons donc que la connaissance des élèves adolescents est primordiale dans la pratique enseignante, puisque l'élève est au coeur de l'enseignement. Ainsi, considérant l'importance de cette période de la vie et des savoirs aux fondements de la formation en enseignement, nous nous demandons: comment les connaissances relatives à l'adolescence et à l'élève adolescent sont-elles intégrées dans les programmes québécois de formation à l'enseignement au secondaire?
