Abstract
La presente etude vient alimenter le debat sur le role du travail autonome en tant que moyen pouvant aider les femmes a mieux concilier leurs responsabilites familiales et professionnelles en fournissant des donnees canadiennes provenant d'un ensemble de donnees exceptionnellement riche ou les enregistrements individuels du Recensement de la population de 2006 sont couples aux enregistrements de L'Enquete nationale aupres des menages de 2011. Contrairement a la plupart des etudes anterieures ou l'on estime les determinants du travail autonome chez les femmes, l'analyse porte cette fois directement sur la transition de l'emploi salarie vers le travail autonome parmi les nouvelles meres.
