Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Metamorphic geochronology and thermochronology of the deformed SouthernProvince reveals a protracted tectonothermal history for Proterozoic southern Laurentia.Penokean-interval deformation is constrained in the Lake Superior area, yet this signature is apparently absent from the Huronian vicinity. In situ monazite U-Th-total Pb electron microprobe ages reveal ~1800 Ma, a strong geon 17 (Yavapai) and a local geon 14/15 influence.Conventional 40 Ar/ 39 Ar hornblende step-heating indicates Paleoproterozoic heating through 500 °C adjacent to Yavapai-interval intrusions; regional mica cooling ages suggests Mesoproterozoic thermal overprinting of primary geon 17 metamorphism occurred south of the Murray fault. The Penokean Orogeny, long considered the dominant Great Lakes Paleoproterozoic event, now recognized as the first of several accretionary events affecting southern Laurentia, is restricted to the 2100 Ma Superior Province rifted margin embayment. Moreover, subsequent tectonothermal pulses (Yavapai, Mazatzal, ca.1450 Ma) recorded in Southern Province rocks mimic that documented across the central and southwestern United States.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
