Assessment of Ice Accretion Effects on Rotor Dynamics via Multi-Body and CFD Approaches
Bibliographic record
Abstract
A numerical approach is outlined to determine the degraded performance and changes in flight characteristics of a helicopter rotor due to icing. The methodology loosely couples a multibody dynamics code and a Computational Fluid Dynamics-based ice accretion code in an effort to reach a compromise between computational resources and model accuracy. Ice accretion is calculated at several radial sections in a quasi-3D analysis. The dynamics code then determines the degraded flight conditions of the helicopter. Ice shedding from the rotor is addressed through a simplified model which predicts shedding through a computation of cohesion and adhesion stresses due to centrifugal loading. The technique has been applied to a helicopter rotor blade in hover flight, demonstrating an increase in torque and a significant loss in the figure of merit.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
