Abstract
Est-il ou non legitime que l’Etat quebecois definisse et promeuve une norme du francais quebecois, distincte de la norme decrite par les ouvrages publies en France, en particulier en matiere lexicale ? Ce debat oppose la plupart des linguistes quebecois, qui appuient cette orientation, a divers detracteurs qui estiment au contraire qu’une seule norme est possible pour le francais. C’est du role des linguistes en tant qu’acteurs dans ce contexte que traite cet article.
