Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Improving the lives of people with joint injury and osteoarthritis. I am idealistic and want to make a difference. Considering the organisational, financial and political barriers to change in healthcare, I realise that my obligation as a researcher is to work strategically and take every opportunity to promote evidence-based medicine. For the past 15 years I have started every day with a 2 km run. I have played sport all my life, but trained like most people do—larger amounts at fewer times a week, as we were taught in physiology class. In 2000 I did a postdoc in Boston and prioritised family and work life, leaving me no time to run. Unfortunately, my family did not appreciate the irritated and impossible person they had to deal with. One day our 22-year-old nanny stood in front of me and said: “I will get up earlier in the …

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
