Abstract
カナダでは生活習慣病が増加しており、多文化主義社会が抱える健康管理の問題は複雑で多様であるが、コミュニティ規模でさまざまな取り組みがなされている。また、公立病院における看護師・医師不足、高齢者施設の不足に加え、医療財政の危機的状況など、住民にとって保健医療環境は厳しさを増している。ブリティッシュ・コロンビア州（以下、BC州）における医療費は、約40億円の赤字であるため、2007年は9.10％増の予算要求を試みたが、7.1％増にとどまった。
