Abstract
Technology. The word awakens images of sophisticated, expensive and intricate processes and equipment. And, of course, it requires a well-trained operator to gain maximum output from it. It does not have to be like this, of course. Technology can also be very simple. And cheap. And easy to use. I recently had the privilege of being part of an agricultural media tour looking at production systems in Kenya. Two of us were South Africans in a group consisting of writers from Europe, Northern Ireland, Canada and the USA.
