PROCESSAMENTO SENSORIAL: NOVA DIMENSÃO NA AVALIAÇÃO DAS CRIANÇAS COM TRANSTORNO DO ESPECTRO AUTISTA

Abstract
O Transtorno do Espectro do Autismo (TEA) é hoje considerado como uma desordem complexa do comportamento que se caracteriza por deficits na comunicação social e comportamentos, interesses e atividades restritos e repetitivos. Alguns estudos revelam que 40% a 80% das crianças com TEA apresentam alterações ao nível do processamento sensorial, que se manifestam através da dificuldade em responder adequadamente a estímulos sensoriais. Nesta investigação pretende-se analisar em que medida existe grau de diferenciação na percepção dos pais e profissionais na área do processamento sensorial das crianças com TEA, dos 3 aos 6 anos e em que medida variáveis sociodemográficas e profissionais interferem no perfil de desenvolvimento na área do processamento sensorial, destas mesmas crianças. Utilizamos uma metodologia de natureza quantitativa e inferencial e como instrumento de coleta de dados, a “Escala de Avaliação do Perfil Desenvolvimental de Crianças com Transtorno do Espectro do Autismo”. Os resultados mostram que os pais e profissionais têm uma percepção semelhante quanto à área do processamento sensorial. O nível educacional e profissional dos pais, não influencia a percepção destes em relação ao processamento sensorial. Verificou-se não existirem diferenças significativas entre os vários profissionais que acompanham as crianças com TEA. O resultado mais significativo é encontrado ao nível do gênero da criança, onde pais e profissionais têm visões diferenciadas.
