SarahPearlman's book "Mother-Talk," is an anthology of twenty-four interviews performed in person and by mail with mothers of lesbian and FTM (female-to-male) transgender children from around the world who came out during the 1970-1990's; a time where any opposition to society's masses was greatly discouraged.Pearlman's personal experience of coming out to her mother as a lesbian, and facing certain rage and rejection prompted her to make this acceptance easier for mothers who normally feel alone and at a loss upon learning their child's sexuality.The purpose of the book is to highlight the struggles associated with coming
