Abstract
Dès les dernières décennies du XX e siècle, le républicanisme a été l’objet d’un intérêt renouvelé au sein de la théorie politique contemporaine. En France, c’est surtout à partir de 1989 que ce renouveau se constate. Certains défis posés par la diversité culturelle et religieuse occupent dès lors le devant de la scène philosophique, et il est possible de distinguer une pluralité de perspectives, chacune se réclamant d’interprétations spécifiques du républicanisme et, par conséquent, se positionnant différemment pour répondre à ces défis. Sur cet horizon, l’article situe le rapport de la Commission de réflexion sur l’application du principe de laïcité dans la République.
