Abstract
This paper presents the main results of a study about bodily manipulations designed to increase an individual’s sensitivity to specific emotions and their effects on performance in a precision shooting task with 36 trainee policemen from Quebec. The theories on emotion postulate that there are coherent patterns in the modified behavioural, physiological and experiential responses. According to Hanin (2000), the bond between emotional states (negative and positive) and performance makes up a relatively new field of research requiring an exploratory approach. The “angry” bodily configuration seems to influence the subject’s evaluation of his feeling of anger. The performance seems not to be modified by the posturofacio-respiratory changes (happiness, anger, neutral) which preceded the task of precision shooting.
