Abstract
L’insécurité économique que fait peser sur les salariés la société capitaliste a toujours été au cœur des préoccupations éthiques de John R. Commons. Cela transparaît directement dans son œuvre, où le thème de l’insécurité économique, ou plutôt son envers, la « sécurité », reçoit une double transcription. Ce dernier apparaît, tout d’abord, au niveau du cadre théorique de l’auteur et des concepts qui le composent, ensuite, dans sa lecture de la réalité des échanges économiques effectivement observables. Ces deux ordres de compréhension du phénomène économique de la « sécurité » – comme catégorie conceptuelle, d’une part, comme situation réellement expérimentée quant à l’accès aux richesses, d’autre part – sont des niveaux d’analyse dont l’interrelation reflète la démarche de recherche « abductive » héritée de la philosophie pragmatiste.
