Abstract
Ce texte aborde la question du potentiel d’innovation des initiatives de gouvernance communautaire dans le secteur de la forêt. Plus précisément, nous analysons le cas du Conseil de gestion intégrée des forêts publiques du Madawaska-Restigouche (CGIFP) qui prend place dans le nord du Nouveau-Brunswick. Au Nouveau‐Brunswick, la gestion forestière a longtemps échappé au contrôle des nombreuses communautés locales qui en dépendent, et représente donc une frontière pour les acteurs communautaires. Le CGIFP se veut un effort pour dépasser cette frontière afin de permettre aux acteurs communautaires de participer pleinement à la gouvernance forestière. Nous analysons le potentiel d’innovation du CGIFP de deux points de vue. Tout d’abord, comme une solution à un problème, celui de la crise forestière. Ensuite comme un processus, ce qui nous permet de voir les éléments qui ont permis à l’initiative d’avancer, mais également les défis qui restent à relever pour actualiser pleinement le potentiel d’innovation du CGIFP.
