Abstract
An Inter-Agency Technical Working Group of United Nations experts met in Addis Ababa from April 22 to April 25, 1981, at the invitation of the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), and with the collaboration of the Canadian International Development Research Centre (IDHC). The purpose of this meeting was to lay the foundation of active cooperation between the Pan African Documentation and Information System (PADIS) set up by UNECA and UN agencies and other bodies active in the field of information in Africa. The implementation of the PADIS programme required the installation of appropriate infrastructures at national, sub-regional and regional levels.
