Détenteur d’une énergie hors norme informant son corps, l’assassin balzacien participe d’un culte de l’action qui le transfigure en véritable héros, si bien que l’anomie du crime confine, par la démesure, à la supériorité. À rebours d’une société médiocrate et apathique, le criminel balzacien apparaît alors comme la dernière manifestation d’un ethos guerrier qui le consacre comme héritier de l’héroïsme épique et de la virtù aristocratique.
