Abstract
Dans ce texte, l’auteure montre, à partir de l’analyse de témoignages de malades recueillis en entrevue, que le recours aux médecines douces exprime en premier lieu une « demande de protection », protection contre la menace du désordre que représente la maladie, le symptôme privé de sens. Ce dernier devient en fait le signe de la rupture de l’alliance nature-culture. À cet égard, le nouveau thérapeute occupe la place de l’intermédiaire devant garantir l’exercice du rituel nécessaire pour rétablir les liens entre la nature et la culture. C’est en ce sens que le discours des malades fait ressortir, en second lieu, une exigence de communication avec la nature. Enfin, en dernier lieu, le recours aux médecines douces témoigne de l’existence d’une logique fonctionnant sur le mode symbolique du bouc émissaire, tel que le décrit René Girard.
