A Escala Motora Infantil de Alberta (AIMS) possibilita a avaliacao e identificacao precoce de desvios motores no sentido de favorecer o desenvolvimento motor adequado das criancas. O relato tem como objetivo descrever a experiencia da aplicabilidade da AIMS em criancas prematuras no NUTEP. A Escala e um importante instrumento para identificar atraso no desenvolvimento motor. De facil aplicabilidade e baixo custo, e, ainda, norteadora para a intervencao dos profissionais no setor de Fisioterapia atraves do seguimento das etapas motoras e sua maior divulgacao visa a possibilidade de aplicacao em Unidades Basicas de Saude, creches, servicos de follow-up e ambulatorios pediatricos. Os resultados indicam que e um protocolo objetivo para a triagem dos bebes com atrasos motores, cuja utilizacao norteia a intervencao dos profissionais de fisioterapia e orienta os pais sobre as posturas a serem estimuladas em domicilio para alcancar a evolucao do desenvolvimento motor da crianca.
