Abstract
Cet article présente une analyse de la solidarité organique de la vie à l’ombre de la géronto-sophie et de la thanato-sophie. L’utilisation du suffixe « -sophie » au lieu de celui de « -logie » suggère une tâche de réflexion et d’interprétation par sympathie ou, en d’autres termes, une connaissance expérientielle du vieillir et du mourir. À côté des définitions et explications produites par diverses approches disciplinaires ( « -logie » ), cette connaissance expérientielle propose une vision, une « théorie » au sens originel du terme, dont l’axe principal porte sur le sens plutôt que sur les caractéristiques biologiques, psychologiques ou sociologiques. Par généralisations hâtives, ces approches stigmatisent trop souvent les conceptions du vieillir et du mourir, les réduisent à une seule de ces caractéristiques, occultant ainsi la question du sens qui, selon nous, est le passage obligé d’une réflexion sur la solidarité organique de la vie.
